Through
The Alpha Delta Kappa Foundation, established in 1981, members reach
out to others in two very significant ways. First, the Foundation
awards over a quarter of a million dollars in scholarships biennially
through its scholarships and grants programs, plus it has provided
perpetuating endowments administered by the University of Missouri –
Kansas City Conservatory of Music, the Kansas City Art Institute and
Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas. Current scholarships and
grants programs include: The International Teacher Education Program,
the Excellence in Education Award, the Fine Arts Grants and the
Regional Professional Development Scholarships. The many lives these
scholarships have enriched are testimony to the collective effort of
our members. Secondly, through its International altruistic projects,
the Foundation has contributed more than one million dollars to St.
Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, one of the
world’s foremost research and treatment centers for catastrophic
childhood diseases; from 1991-1997, contributed $150,000 to the
Pediatric AIDS Foundation in Santa Monica, California which funds
pediatric AIDS research around the world; and since 1997 has
contributed more than $400,000 to Susan G. Komen For the Cure.
