Alzheimer's Association Community Educators are volunteer public speakers who help raise awareness, provide education and expand the reach of Alzheimer's Association programs in the community. Community Educators deliver Alzheimer’s Association core curricula about once a month in your local community. Your experiences lend credibility to what you are trained to offer.
As a Community Educator, you are not expected to be an expert in all things dementia. Instead, you will receive specific training on each curriculum that you choose to deliver. What’s more, as a Community Educator, you are the voice in your community for this cause. Alzheimer’s is a complicated issue that still carries a lot of stigma in some communities. By sharing this information, you are breaking down barriers to get people help, you are helping caregivers their situation and cope with the changes of dementia or Alzheimer’s, and you’re helping change the national conversation about this disease.
